Don Davies: An Independent Progressive Candidate for North Somerset

Don Davies is standing as an independent candidate for the North Somerset constituency. He has the novel idea of representing all our constituents in their dealings with central government rather than being dictated to by a party machine, regardless of the consequences for us.

His guiding principles are to create sustainable communities for us to live in, where properly resourced schools, health, jobs, retail and entertainment locations are readily accessible, with good affordable housing and transport. This promotes an inclusive society and much reduces our impact on climate change.

In his 6 years as a North Somerset Councillor, he has turned these words into actions by co-founding a community land trust to building affordable, local housing; been instrumental in the development of the county’s credit union; helped set up a food bank; worked on the creation of a co-operative to generate green energy locally (Low Carbon Gordano); and led the take over of provision of youth services in Pill after North Somerset Council pulled out.

Should you elect Don as MP for North Somerset on 8 June he will work with other community-based progressive parties to pursue policies that help to promote sustainable local communities, concentrating on the needs of North Somerset in particular.
